Use the GTA 6 companion map on your phone

How to pan, filter, isolate, and mark finds on the 305 HQ map from a phone browser — without a native app, and without needing the game installed.

Open it like a web app

On a phone, open /map in the mobile browser. The board is touch-friendly: pinch to zoom, drag to pan, tap a pin for the popup. You do not need Grand Theft Auto VI installed to study the geography or keep found marks.

There is no separate iOS or Android store listing required for this companion. If you add the site to your home screen, you are still in the same browser origin — progress lives there. Switching browsers without sync looks like a new empty map. Safari and Chrome on the same iPhone are not the same shelf.

Bookmark /map, not a screenshot of someone else’s zoomed-in Ocean Beach. Screenshots go stale when filters change. The live board is the product; a saved picture of it is just wallpaper with unreadable labels.

If the gold silhouette is easier to read, try /island. For the product pitch and access language, /companion explains Scout and Pro without being the interactive atlas itself.

Phone-friendly habits

Isolate one district before you try closest path. A route across every remaining pin on the wide Leonida set is noisy on a small screen. The region meter’s found count is easier to read when only one zone is active.

Search is faster than hunting when you already know a landmark name from a district guide. Mark as found from the pin popup; progress stays on the device. Spoiler-masked cards on the island stay blurred until you tap Reveal.

Portrait is fine for a single beach strip. Landscape helps when you are jumping Port Gellhorn to Key Lento. Either way, turn layers off until the labels are large enough to tap without opening the wrong pin.

One-handed use is why isolate exists. If you are on a train with a thumb and a notch, you cannot manage a full-state pin field. Isolate Ocean Beach or Downtown, mark two places, lock the phone. That is a successful session.

Location, data, and one-device progress

Closest path can use your location when the browser has permission and you are inside the board’s clip. If geolocation fails or you are outside that clip, the companion falls back to the map center and still builds a short path across remaining visible pins. You do not need GPS to mark finds.

Map tiles and pin data load like any map site. This is not offline play of GTA 6, and it is not a downloadable console package. On a metered connection, avoid leaving the wide board zoomed out with every district on.

Found marks persist in that browser. Optional signed-in sync is the path if you want the same list on a phone and a laptop. Clearing site data on iOS or Android will wipe local marks the same way desktop cookies do.

Private tabs are a trap. They feel clean until you close them and the marks vanish. Use a normal session if you care about the list. If you are only sightseeing the coastline, a private tab is fine — just do not be surprised when the meter resets.

What not to do on a phone

Do not treat a district guide as a walking checklist of real Miami Beach hotels. The names are Florida references on a fan map. Standing in front of Loews does not complete an in-game collectible.

Do not paste a full pin dump into a group chat if friends still want to explore. Send them this page or a single district guide instead.

Do not screenshot the unfiltered Leonida board and set it as a lock screen. Labels clip into the notch, and you will have used the wrong tool. Phone wallpapers are a 3:4 crop on /wallpapers.

Phone wallpaper is a different page

If you opened the map because you wanted Vice City on your lock screen, stop panning and go to /wallpapers. Choose Mobile (3:4), pick a free pooled look, download. That file is built for a phone. A map screenshot is not.

Personalize styles that put your photo in a poster also live on wallpapers, and they spend credits. The map never spends those credits. Keep the jobs separate so launch week does not become one overloaded tab.

Creators shooting a phone-handed map tour should still export thumbnails at 1280×720 in Creator Studio. A phone screenshot of /map rarely leaves room for a title.

A five-minute phone rehearsal

Open /map. Isolate Ocean Beach or Downtown. Tap one pin, read the Florida address, mark it found. Toggle isolate off. That is the whole loop you will use after November 19, 2026.

If the board feels heavy, you are not doing it wrong — you forgot a filter. The companion is dense on purpose so the coastline has shape. Filters are how a phone stays usable.

Do this rehearsal before you are in a noisy launch-week comment thread. Five minutes now is cheaper than learning isolate on a phone while a streamer dumps the whole strip. The habit transfers to desktop; the phone is just the stricter teacher.

The companion is a web product. Open /map in the mobile browser. Progress is stored locally in that browser unless you use optional signed-in sync.
