Closest path on the GTA 6 companion map

How the Closest path route HUD orders remaining landmarks on 305 HQ — a phone-friendly planner over filtered Florida pins, not a mission walkthrough or in-game GPS import.

What Closest path is for

The route HUD on the map exposes a Closest path control. It looks at remaining (not-found) pins that are currently visible under your filters, then builds an ordered stop list with a kilometer readout so a phone session stays usable.

It is a planner for landmarks you already chose to care about on this companion. It is not Rockstar’s pathing, not a mission order, and not proof that in-game travel will match the line. If a video titles this feature “GTA 6 GPS,” they are overselling a fan board.

Use it after you have isolated a district or turned off the layers you do not want. Use it before you wander a dense strip like Ocean Beach with every pin still on. The feature is honest about a large set — that does not make a 200-stop list kind.

Think of it as a short grocery order, not as a road trip across the state. Three to a dozen remaining pins in one zone is the session that feels good. A line that hops from the Keys to a gulf city to downtown is a screenshot for a thumbnail, not a plan you will finish tonight.

Visible pins only: filter first

Closest path will not invent a smaller map for you. If Downtown and Port Gellhorn and Ocean Beach are all visible, the route is allowed to notice all of them. Isolate this zone when you want a neighborhood walk. Widen filters only when you mean to cross Leonida.

Mark as found removes a pin from the remaining count. Aggressive marking in one filtered district makes the next plot short. Marking nothing leaves the planner staring at the whole remainder — then people blame the button.

Spoiler-masked cards on the island are a separate control. Closest path does not auto-reveal them, but it also does not hide a pin you left visible. If you are still avoiding surprises, keep cards closed and keep filters tight.

Where the path starts

If the browser can read your location and you are inside the board’s clip, the path starts near you. That helps when you are actually in South Florida with the companion open. It is optional.

If geolocation fails, permission is denied, or you are outside the clip, the companion falls back to the Leonida or island center and still plots across remaining visible pins. You do not need GPS to use the HUD, and you do not need GTA 6 installed.

A path that starts from map center while you sit in another country is still useful as a tour order. It is a bad walking itinerary. Read the origin before you treat the kilometer number as a promise.

A loop that stays short

Isolate a district. Scan the meter. Tap Closest path. Visit or study the first few stops. Mark them found. Plot again. Clear the route from the HUD when you are done, then widen filters for the next district.

On a phone this loop is the difference between a usable evening and a hairball of lines. On a desktop it is how a creator films a ten-minute district tour without scrolling the entire atlas.

Stop caps exist so a route stays readable. If the count beside the button is lower than you expect, you already marked pins or you still have a filter on. Check the HUD before you assume the feature is broken.

If the line looks like a scribble, you probably left two distant districts visible. Isolate, plot again, and the scribble becomes a neighborhood. That is the usual “fix” — not a settings hunt.

What Closest path will not do

It will not import into Grand Theft Auto VI as a waypoint list. Screenshot or remember the stop order if you want it beside the game later. There is no official claim that Rockstar’s world uses these Florida addresses, let alone this order.

It will not walk missions, price collectibles, or skip story locks. It will not sync a public “best route” for the whole internet. Your remaining set is yours.

For creator tours, film the HUD as a companion tip and say plainly it is fan geography. Link this guide and the district page. Do not call it an official GTA 6 route planner.

When another tool is the right click

If you wanted a lock-screen still of a night drive, that is /wallpapers, not a route screenshot. If you wanted a YouTube title for “I followed the map,” that is Creator Studio. If you wanted to drop a custom prop on the gold board, that is Assets — and those pins are island theater, not extra closest-path loot on Leonida.

If you wanted a spoiler-free habit more than a line on the map, read the tracker guide first. Closest path is a sharp tool. The tracker is the reason you should not aim it at the entire island on day one.

After November 19, keep the same order: filter, isolate, plot, mark, plot again. Official in-game GPS — when you have it — is a different product. This HUD stays a companion over Florida references, even if you open it beside the pause map.

Closest path uses remaining visible pins. Found marks and filters both reduce the set. Check the count beside the button.
